The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will.     满分。有的时候觉得巨魔就是没有经过社会化的原始人，但是终于我们知道，他们也有个性，有爱好，有观念，还有更重要的是有爱。希尔达这次的历程就像是认识一种社会化的重要性，关于珍视家人和友人，这也是每个人应该经过的历程，Hilda和母亲渐行渐远再到分开时的思念，David和母亲观念冲突的烦恼，这些都是真实可触的。Frida的能力其实更加直达沟通的深邃，最后所有的巨魔站在他们母亲的正上方，告诉他们：“我的孩子，妈妈好欣慰，你们也许不记得我，但是我绝不可能忘记你们，好好照顾彼此，要坚强、要善良，要记得我一直都在身边。”对于巨魔来说，她就像是一个真正凝聚全部巨魔的共同体，这个本体的本质是理解、包容和善念，只可惜人没有这个了，在去宗教化和去神秘的作用下，在家庭以外，人类很难再做到照顾彼此，但是其实这也够了。

    导演再次献出了花里胡哨的各种影像材料和明星演员的大杂烩，材料特性没能凸显，明星魅力也没有散发出来（梅姨还靠着实力硬撑着）。观影期待值随着影片进度而逐步降低，也是奇妙的体验。

    画面的色调 特效和文戏的流畅度都远远超过tv的水准了… 超级希望就能多个5分钟左右 稍微丰富一下贤人和伦太郎的线就好了 但是整体看下来还是非常舒适的
