The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 【253/166】这是一部与《了不起的老爸》有着相似之处的电影。根据香港运动员苏桦伟真实事例进行的改编。父母的不放弃是他能成功登顶残奥会的第一步。正如影片中苏妈所说“所有人都不把你当普通人，那你就做一个不普通的人”。此外，电影部分情节会抨击了香港残奥运动员受到的不公待遇，这当然也值得香港体育当局的重视！也许在未来会有更多的神奇妈妈培养出更多的神奇小子为祖国添彩！

无论是生气地拒绝别人的好心“你怎么不请他们喝（可乐）”，还是怯弱地向媒体表达同工同酬的诉求，妈妈都想要全世界把你当一个普通人。
#BJIFF21 影像的力量，哪是一个短评能说尽的。
跑步不能跑一辈子，热爱不能当饭吃，就好像一切都找不到答案却又是答案。你只管跑，你永远是妈妈的神奇小子。
表演很扎心，开头小孩子的微笑能把人融化。国语配音效果很差，吴君如的配音甚至让人出戏。电影有些煽情，但真正让人感动的地方并不多。整体工工整整也平平淡淡，没什么起伏。金句和鸡汤式的台词没什么必要。好在不是热血的体育精神，而是拍出了现实中运动员的穷途末路。
虽然是郑思杰老师安利，但是依旧要说这种廉价感动网大，还是少拍
喜欢水滴声和几条并行的线。
【BIFF2021】摄影也太不容易了…洞穴探险与生命尽头的双线文本，不在影院很难沉浸。
很佩服摄影、声音，在如此狭窄空间，完成了很多刁钻角度的拍摄，但是导演要表达什么呢？
演员表演出色；很生活化的体育类传记片，没有什么正能量颂歌，很难得，也没有过分煽情；生活远远难于跑道
2021北影节。这片子只能在大银幕上看，在家会完全看不出效果。放映遇到一些小状况，观看体验不是很好。像纪录片但又不像纪录片给你展现一件事的全貌或者重点，这片子更像是把一些体验抽离出来按时间顺序再剪辑在一起，从始至终都带着对美的理解。片子没有解说，只把最纯的画面音效展现给观众，整体色调剪辑都挺有意思的，确实像一个艺术作品。
先不说片子，评论里那位说别人没看懂的，也是挺让人无语，写那么一大段话，只要看过电影的，都是非常非常明显的信息点，指出的都是大家能看到的，也没说别的新鲜的啊？为啥说别人没看懂，自己看懂的不也是那些吗？嗯，美则美矣。

-十几年来，你拿了好多好多的金牌，我跟我自己说，我儿子是个天才，我儿子是一个不普通的人，但是你跑完这一届，还能继续跑吗？很快就没有人记得谁是苏桦伟了。我跟你爸走以后，谁来照顾你？还不是要靠政府津贴？-我可以回去送快递。-那不是你朋友帮你吗？不然谁会请你啊？如果我是老板的话，我都愿意请个正常人。-就是你整天提醒我不是一个正常人，从小到大你做任何事都是因为我残废，你当初生小弟也是因为我残废，小时候你叫我跑步是因为残废，…… -阿伟你是个残废我知道很惨，但是我有个残废的儿子当妈的也很惨。从你出生的那天开始，所有的人都怪我，我带你去跑步，你老爸说为什么硬要带儿子去跑残障？你小时候走不了，我逼你走，街坊邻居指着我骂，“你儿子哭成那样了你还逼他，你还是不是人？” 阿伟，你残废是天生的，没有人会怪你，只会怪我。
题材本身还是挺值得鼓励。片子做得过于用力了，音乐和节奏都是。没错这样的片子是有被打动的预期的，但是一直催着说你要感动你要感动就会有点奇怪和pushy。打算把12秒58拿出来也看看
