The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 新人导演，看得出佳佳是很有想法的，投入的感情很足。虽然视听有瑕疵，但第一次拍还是很棒的，故事很温馨，切入的视角也有社会责任
轻松开心的看完，感觉是近期最减压的电影了。前半段节奏拉满，每个人的性格设定都很得劲。找来客串的也都是有渊源有包袱的，二手玫瑰对于白事来说简直是完美客串，但后半段转煽情把唱一宿这事儿给忘了，葬礼那段来一首命运，刀爷一下车，音乐响起，哎呀我说命运呐，那不是升华大发了。澡堂子那段是最先在网上爆出来的，感觉街溜子还挺有意思的。宋晓峰在他的舒适区就是顶级笑匠，特别能嚷嚷，实际很怂关键时刻又不怂，善良的，幸运值爆表的社会底层，就是他的不败标签。第一时间看完，全程无尿点，这样的喜剧可以多来点。
剧情比较拉垮。搞笑与煽情都过于浮夸。还有，看得出来导演有几分文艺情怀，但这不是放几张电影海报就能充分表达的。论所谓的“东北文艺复兴”，还是得看《钢的琴》。
虽然电影有逻辑bug，但整体故事还是比较流畅的，个人觉得进院线也是没问题的程度，毕竟即使不是疫情影响，现在电影院的片子也还不如这个。 喜剧内核是悲剧，这个电影起码立意上还是不错的，鼓励分加1⭐！

看完发现和郭德纲那个祖宗十九代也是一个路数，就是把一个一个场景比较生硬地拼接起来，导演拍短视频估计很不错，拍电影还差点意思，单独把几个场景拿出来挺搞笑，但串起来不像完整电影。
近年来难得一见的“有人味”的主旋律，他们不是教科书中昂扬的战士，他们是一个个拥有喜怒哀乐的生命。
但是还是存在一些技术问题，比如音画不够统一、部分段落光源不足导致画面噪点太多、甚至是肉眼可见的穿帮…都挺影响观感的。
人生嘛，就是你来我走。
