打过德扑的人都知道，算牌作为一种概率技艺，可以构成打牌整体策略，为长期盈利提供数学工具。但具体到某把牌，甚至某次比赛，某一天，某一个月，是否能赢钱都首先建基于运气，也就是偶然性之上。当代“神学”如果说还有什么是超验的，或许就是这种“偶然”，那种我们能从萨弗迪兄弟电影中大量感知到的混沌和不可预计性。而施拉德只能在老派的信仰体系里做得足够正统，在当代电影语汇显得足够正点。不过，这个电影最成功地方，当然是把赌博男人塑造如此帅，如此秀食可餐。
影像风格和故事设计都很施拉德，一颗荒芜的心如何拯救另一颗濒死的心，监狱广角设计有意思，其他则寥寥。

保罗施拉德擅长用对话做人物状态，这两年的电影都有对伤痕的救赎，但表现出来却浅显了许多，心理惊悚可不是他擅长做的啊。搞下来，台词和心理推动都不太好
和老婆一起躺床上看的，中间暂停了两次，也就是干了两次。
