1979年德州，牧场主霍华德获知自己远在墨西哥城的前妻莱塔正在虐待13岁的儿子拉斐尔后，出资让自己的驯马师迈克尔·米洛将拉斐尔绑架回美国。到达地点，发现莱塔居住在豪华庄园。迈克来到斗鸡场找到拉福，告诉他霍华德有个牧场后拉福同意回美国。但莱塔随后让手下卢卡斯用枪把迈克挟持至庄园，警告说拉福是其财产、不许迈克带走；其后让其丈夫奥雷里奥监视着迈克。迈克开车回去途中发现拉福藏在车后座，赶不走后答应把他带到边境。在小镇酒吧，奥雷要抢走拉福被拉福巧妙摆脱。接着车被偷走但拉福又偷一辆。车漏油坏掉逗留小镇，迈克帮当地人驯好一匹马并教拉福骑马，并与餐厅女老板产生恋情。车修好后继续前进，奥雷追来，爷俩夺枪抢车离开，到达边境霍华德接走拉福，拉福将公鸡马乔赠送迈克，迈克返身找餐厅女老板
一直期待着劲爆场面，但通篇最暴力的竟然是一只鸡，哈哈。老头岁数大，不易，不知道怀抱大妞的时候，还有感觉吗。
