The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. 这部剧作被改编的次数也太多了，科恩+华盛顿也没带来什么惊喜，甚至于过度舞台化的表现方式都显得有些俗套。
一边看原著一边看电影，部分改动相当合理，整部剧展现到位。

太阳星辰、睡眠死亡、天堂地狱，大量天空的描写让人与环境的对抗显得如此无力。4：3画幅，大量固定镜头，经典电影技法拍经典文学，表演和台词还是舞台剧式的。人物刻画薄弱，还好女巫的恐怖感渲染出色。极简的线条和布光，几段establishing shot很惊艳。同是科恩和黑泽明的脑残粉，还是更喜欢六十年前的蜘蛛巢城。

「黑白电影年年有，二〇二一尤其多。」不得不称赞一句，镜头布局可太爱了，戏剧改编也真就很drama。

背景得弦乐像是在嘶吼着麦克白的悲剧，黑白得摄影也在渲染着暗藏杀机的悲剧，场景布置清冷得也让人心生悲剧，这部电影从头到尾甚至包括片名都在告诉观众这是悲剧，如此强大的视听与氛围感极力想要挽救昏昏欲睡得精神，但是味同嚼蜡的主题还是让我渐渐睡去。
