The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 片子和演员都没什么问题，关键看观众能不能投入感情，可惜观看过程中我的感情无处投放，可能音乐剧粉丝感触会更深吧。
男主唱这么多歌都不如女主一首震撼，当然剧情也说了这首是重头戏。
我大概是对音乐剧电影免疫了，影评人评价这么好的电影也没觉得多好看😅。上次给我惊喜的音乐剧电影还是《巴黎小情歌》，可以看20遍。

本大杂烩人……看过rent20周年巡演，对Larson略知一二，落实到影像上整个N次泪水在眼眶打转，基本上都围绕在音乐点上。加菲的表演也不蜘蛛侠，很ok！感动蔓延！

剧情一般，演员长相一般，歌曲也不好听，等了2个小时，一直在等一首抓耳的歌，结果也没等到，不知道为啥这么高的分。

今年个人最佳，一个创作者首先要走出个人的部分，放下要求别人理解自己复杂感受的期待，去理解别人，在一次次实践中尝试出一条自己的路，它才有可能成为自己。
片尾的影像比电影更打动人，其实就能说明电影不够成功，加菲在很多方面演的都很好，但对比片尾就很明显的没演出来一个天才应有的形象。不过胜在歌好听，且改编的恰到好处，否则就真的是一部非常平庸的作品
才华，真是一种太残酷的东西。纽约艺术青年们的生活状态，都是同一种模式咩？那些并没有绝对的才华的人，后来又怎样了呢？可能是因为没有看过rent吧…等以后看了，不知道会不会回来改分。
传主乔纳森在他那部传世之作《吉屋出租》首演前日去世，他的良师、一代音乐剧巨擘桑德海姆近日也与世长辞，由此本片算是双重祭奠。我以为我会哭，但是我没有。作为一个Rent粉+LMM粉，得到的却是双重失望。虽然电影有个不错的结构，将《倒数时刻》的表演现场与乔纳森的现实生活交织穿插，宛如他本人以上帝视角审视自己的创作心路、注解自己短暂的一生，但段落融合性不强，跳进跳出反而出戏，高潮缺席又令累积的小情绪溃散一地。
没想到和pose如此梦幻联动！对不起jonathan！我一定会去看一场现场rent的！曲子没有期待中的抓人，但还行吧… 我最喜欢的是susan天台的那场。michael和susan的演绎比招来的演员动人多了。所以superbia有演出过吗？我真得好想看“外星人和未来”的音乐剧…
