The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 伯德小姐，JR先生。复古老爷车，旧式保龄球。平淡而又感人的人生日志。（其实uncle的形象有点过于完美了）
想一下这样的电影找找大明星，然后上映前稍稍营销一下，票房应该不简单吧！这也是一种怎么说国产电影的悲哀吧，明明很好的电影却因为演员什么的没有流量，上映时间沉寂之后才被发现！
还不错，刚开始还以为是看过的美剧，后来以为是彗星来的那一夜，其实啊，这种题材比较多，看谁能拍出意思来。现在看，这个剧拍的还行，至少是及格的

小成本电影拍成这样真的是非常棒了，虽然没有像那些知名科幻片给我极大的震撼，但也足够给我的大脑以充分的思索，我喜欢这样的电影

不知道被治愈还是被致郁了，自由的滑板和奔跑，却对应着跳海以及一口吞掉的所有情绪药。有几处对白，分不清东出昌大是在演出角色还是他自己。日影真的举重若轻。
他们无法释怀的情感以他们独自的释然方式坚定存在着，寻找自我一定是迷茫的但或许所做的一切会有其特殊意义
酒吧其實就是男主心裏里溫馨的家，比姥爺家更像一個家。在這裏，可以獲得理解、信任、支持，是夢開始的地方，是他內心真正的教堂。當然，查理舅舅和其他酒友就是神父！影片很平淡但是也很溫馨，充滿了愛與希望。
感觉这种逻辑可以自洽的小成本悬疑片，已经还不错了
100万预算14天 这个分数是合理的 可以看出来是小成本但影片整个质感可以能看 设定如果没看过彗星和恐怖游轮的话会觉得还不错 但是怎么可能呢 去看的不都是对这类题材感兴趣想看看还能玩儿出什么花儿来么 主要是同类型影片太多了 还有西班牙那个时空罪恶…很多细节经不起推敲 观众只能自行脑补“反正设定是这样的不要太纠结细节” 故事类似 人物很多行为动机又站不住脚 中间过多刻意的解释等等都是比较突兀的部分 “你是本科学历吗”这个听起来就非常奇怪 太明显了太明显了这里就不能收着点儿吗我们能看懂 大概是这种感觉 致敬闪灵是为了让人不去联想到彗星的设定么？还是只是强调这个事情发生在类似闪灵设定的一个场景里 不知道 就希望导演能如愿的有拍下一部的机会吧

低配《彗星来的那一夜》，大团圆结局是真的没内味……
有点恐怖游轮和彗星来的那一夜的既视感，主要是同类型设定见太多了，有点中规中矩
我觉得很不错的电影！小成本能拍出这样，已经很棒很棒了，演员演技都挺在线的，整体流线还挺好的，该有的都有了！
