The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 虽然我很少看恐怖片，但是这部观感真的相当不错。（要是把我吓尿那可能就没有这么高的评价了）
都 是无聊的
没想到特殊时期看了这部特殊的片，真不知道居然是和新冠有关。不管是哪里，遇到病毒，付出的代价都是惨痛的。镜头对着特殊时期特殊人群，讲了一个充满温柔的悲剧。希望早点好起来吧。
看吗 看啊 以最凌乱的镜头
作为一个惊吓指数非常低的人，我快看睡着了……看到咒语反转那块就明白了立意，挺聪明，但拍快俩小时真的有点无聊，而且恐怖点和亲情点全靠台词直接讲出来的……道格玛95啊伪纪录片啊桌面电影啊互动沉浸啊，大概就是糟糕的当代艺术家必须是个艺术评论家的感觉。
觉得晦气就打低分的弱智er 看来你们才是真的被下咒了
作为恐怖片挺成功的，这是一部和观众互动的恐怖片，女主在把观众引入和她身临同境的处境里，导演不过是把古早的“看到不转发到X个群就会XX”的梗融入到电影了。贯穿电影始终的那句让你跟着念的八字咒语“火佛修一，心萨呒哞”不过是「福祸相倚，生死有名」的闽南语谐音。看到评论区骂骂咧咧的大伙儿，感慨在唯物主义无神论下长大的吾辈迷信起来竟是比封建社会的古人有过之而无不及！
说这么多，总结一下:
结构上，太零碎了；几条线的交叉，剪辑点也都挺别扭的，这大大影响了观众的“入戏”过程。
所以我也被诅咒了吗？（咒文翻译的那里很妙，因为一直看中间的字，到最后突然白屏时，那个图案被眼睛记住了，所以屏幕上都是那个图案）
比哭悲好多了，起码有头有尾，有因有果，有悬念反转，而且真实事件很早看小说看到过，不过电影不太一样，片子不错，挺吓人的
这导演要是在我面前，得高低被我梆梆来两拳，我看是你的诅咒生效快还是我的拳头快。我求求了，别再恐怖片里整这种主角了，全世界只有自己亲人的命是命，害死其他人一点不会内疚也没有同理心的，看得我火大。
原先不抱太高期望，只求能接近国外普通恐怖片的效果就行了，但实际质量其实并不比一些有名的国外恐怖片要差。
看完和女朋友一起大呼晦气，也算是电影的成功了，优点是村落那段和邪教相关道具水平非常在线，世界一流的水平，再多给制作组点钱，完全可以构建一个6部起步的邪教世界观，未来可期。其次是结尾揭露女主邪恶本质这点很给力，比装可怜强多了。然后是给观众下诅咒有种第九艺术的体验，缺点是故事合理性还得捋一捋，然后用爱发电这段看得出导演努力的方向，但力度不够，震撼度也不够。这点《来了》里亲情的冷淡和邪恶反而让我印象深刻。
结构比较混乱也没有很有趣，迷影到随处可见的前辈reference，ending前还要加插温情戏码，有些镜头的拍法也基本跟传统手持没有两样，为了剧情需要非要摆个可以拍4k的dv拍，也是不要太做作，这些都是束手束脚没放开的表现。
算是少有的不枯燥、不太晃、废戏少、能让人看进去的伪纪录片了，比《昆池岩》《中邪》《灵媒》之流都要有趣太多，华语恐怖片还得是台湾牛👍🏻恐怖元素都既丰富又有趣，地道里的蚰蜒，宗教、后面的“视觉暂留”，都明显感受到团队精心设计的诚意，吓得我头皮发麻(ಥ_ಥ)
看完很厌恶 让观众分担诅咒没事儿吧？那我只要给你分担评分了
片子还是能吸引我看完的，2个比较喜欢的地方，一个是鬼打墙，一个是利用视觉暂留让人在白色屏幕上看到那个符咒。
怂点都一样
