The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 影片的故事很励志、很热血，却始终难以让人相信。
前半部分都还很工整，情绪也到位；只不过最后的一场戏太没有逻辑，不明不白的就跑了第一。同时，这种基于真实原型改编的电影最后的感动更多是原型角色本身。

中规中矩的励志，残疾运动员训练艰辛背后还可能面临更严峻的经济压力。但是那时候的体制并没有很好地照顾到残疾人的生活。电影是说到了一些实际的现象，故事来说就有些煽情过度了。
《妈妈的神奇小子》作为同一人物的传记片，不限于残障人士体育励志，还严肃展现探讨了残疾人和运动员，双重身份下的生存困境。
68/100。比较让人意外的一点是，影片并没有如同设想的那样，走上过分煽情的道路一去不复返，反而触及了很多隐藏在光辉背后的痛苦：比如同工同酬问题、双孩家庭偏爱一个孩子所带来的家庭震荡、家境并不宽裕的运动员如何在训练和以接广告为首的赚外快之间保持平衡等一系列并不浅薄的现象，表明了导演并不只是想拍一部传记影片这么简单，也能让观众有所思考。不过没有过分煽情并不代表没有煽情，一些情绪表达强大到让人无法接受的地方还是让人脚趾抓地的。
一直觉得一块奥运会金牌可以保证一辈子衣食无忧，看来我错了。
