During the US Civil War, Union POWs escape in a balloon and end up stranded on a South Pacific island, inhabited by giant plants and animals. In 1865, during the siege of Richmond, Virginia, the union soldiers POW Captain Harding, Neb and Herbert escape in a balloon during a storm with two confederate prisoners, Sergeant Pencroft and the journalist Spilett. The uncontrollable wind takes the balloon to a mysterious island in the South Pacific in the area of New Zealand. Captain Harding self-proclaims the leader of the group and they look for food; sooner they discover that they are stranded in an island. Further, they are attacked by a giant crab that becomes their first meal. Along the days, they build a shelter and finds that the island is inhabited by giant animals. A couple of days later, they find two castaways on the beach, the aristocratic Lady Mary Fairchild and her sexy niece Elena. Later they find a trunk with weapons and instruments like sextant and shelter with a journal of a man left alone in the island by pirates. When the pirate vessel arrives in the island, they are helped by Captain Nemo of the Nautilus, a submarine that had supposedly sunk in the coast of Mexico eight years ago. 紧张的令人窒息的电影。应该学习一下这样的作品。
第一眼很像是那种典型的英国片：调度冷静有秩、演员卖力表现，但立意却只是隔靴搔痒，其实不然。当然，电影本身的情绪还是克制的,但不乏充满情感力量的时刻，大人物们一边心存幻想，一边努力添点筹码；小角色们从魏玛时期走出，那是末日降临前的狂欢，眼看相信的一切被碾作尘土，最后只能沦入籍籍无名，或者去当那扑火的飞蛾。从上到下，所有人用尽全力，在万众疯狂面前仍嫌太少。
我们不能选择自己生活的时代，我们唯一能选择的就是如何回应。哈哈，演员颜值不错，养眼。
7分。完成度较高，但缺陷明显。本质上是一部披着历史正剧的皮的英式青春片，夹带着大时代背景下小人物的渺小与无奈，以及属于那一时代人的悲伤。结合英法绥靖政策，本片在历史片中算是交出了一份不错的另类答卷，肯定了张伯伦政策的一定积极作用，同时借着一个虚构的间谍故事紧紧牵住观众心弦，使得电影颇具紧张感与观赏价值。但影片在部分细节处理上不够严谨，如制造双男主见面的情节过于巧合、小人物与政治家同台演出显得目的性过于明确等。
一部取自真实历史事件的电影，两名耶鲁大学曾经的同学，有着不同的祖国和政治信仰，但是为了和平又一次走到了一起，和平，才是最重要的追求。
历史在注视着我们，文人的幻想对家国的思愁都寄托在年轻人上
《慕尼黑协定》以及张伯伦著名的绥靖政策。有那么点替他洗白的意思。串联上描写丘吉尔的《至暗时刻》，可能会更好的了解那段历史。三星半

我觉得还行。可以对那段历史有个大概的了解。看过很多这种类型的，国外拍这种电影真的是很有一套。

时代电影，美化绥靖政策啊，关键也就缓了一年啊，英国了准备了，德国人也更有准备了啊，那会德国还没有直接硬刚英法的实力啊

从张伯伦角度讲述一遍二战爆发前的情况，剧本不错，能给4星，值得拿奖的影片。
带英滤镜片，但是仍旧无可避免地进入通辽宇宙～
所以真正的邪恶不是人本身，而是权力本身，无论是任何人，在拥有了最大化的权利之后，都会让心中小小的恶念膨胀起来。
对于西方国家来说，国内的民意和支持率才是政客们的关注点，在当时英国国内反战情绪高昂的大背景下，张伯伦被现世诟病谴责的“绥靖政策”，也存在着历史的必然性。
