The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 低于预期，前半段设定蛮好，但走向沦为俗套了，自我剖析的部分也不够深刻，所以只是一部“粉丝电影”。
看的过程始终觉得“故事除了当作承载凯奇表演的vehicle之外还有什么意义？”但是停下来想了一阵，知道他们要干什么了：这个故事从一开始，就是为了承载凯奇的表演而诞生的，情节的所有自指和自嘲，是在告诉观众“我们知道自己正在做什么，你不必担心”。所有人（或许除了凯奇）投入本片的所有努力，都源于那份对尼古拉斯·凯奇的银幕表演的爱。换言之，你可以把本片看作“凯奇表演生涯高光时刻混剪（有情节版）”，只是请来现在的凯奇（和整个剧组）再次上演那些时刻。可惜编导的天才有限，这样一个相当酷的idea，在现实中也就那样。idea不是艺术！
原本以为是一出《低入尘埃》式的没落演员的自我剖析，最终却成了皆大欢喜的大俗套剧。

对凯奇没啥感情，但迷影情怀很难不被打动。自己演自己，以及分裂一个名字演分裂的自己，刺激绑架元素要有讽刺剧情烂俗也要有，对自我的审视和对电影的感情确实让它变得非常特别

虽然演的是自己，但其实仍是一个老套的谍战故事，还反复致敬自己的电影。当然不乏搞笑段落，尤其是那个action哈哈哈。而对电影行业的各种闲聊式探讨，是最大加分项，不管是好莱坞还是国内，其实问题都很普遍，跟女儿说不推荐选择艺术行业也很中肯了。
从出道即巅峰到落魄烂片王，二十余年的摸爬滚打在这部电影中剥开了给观众看。
