The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 外地人在上海生活
上一次看到这么喜欢的国产电影是什么时候呢 倪虹洁走进ktv时低了低头 又撑起笑容；马伊琍在天台说 再年轻一些的时候我也吃这套；小玛雅说“我背叛了” 老白赶紧说“我乱说的 你们什么事都没有”；老乌的爱情神话 看哭了 葬礼那段很喜欢 来和去都本应是如此自然的事
说实话有点没太看懂导演主要想要表达什么，但剧情片来说也算是中规中矩吧，有些小的点还是能get到的
把最佳男配角奖发给周野芒！一个老白，一个老乌代表了两种上海老男人，前者是小资闷骚，后者是爱兜牛逼装金刚钻的明骚，“上海这个地方现在我算外人了我蹲不下去了”一句玩笑话居然让我最能relate。全程沪语的生活流现在轻松惬意，值得把玩的小细节也不少。两个妈妈演员的数落孩子戏份真的和我妈也差不多。但是说带头，人到中老年能出去耍朋友，是不是还是因为侬有几套老房子？
4. 李小姐和格罗瑞亚的微信使用习惯：李小姐从来都是文字输入，而且一两个字的回复也必用句号结尾。格罗瑞亚从来都是语音输入。
非常接地气和生活化的电影，尤其是在看了那么多悬浮剧以后，这部电影更显得难能可贵。在上海生活过的人会更有体会，这真的非常上海人，他们会用咖啡精致生活，买东西会比较，但这TM才是真实的人啊。
段子很漂亮，但只能说接了“上海人”的地气，不免为赋新词强说愁，透着一股何不食肉糜的精致市侩，很难再有深一步的挖掘。费里尼、王小波沦为卖弄文艺的点缀，大师所以不朽者，在于从真正的身心苦难中开出美与善之花。
我们的观点其实并不重要，重要的是陪伴和没有戳穿下的我愿意为你做的一切。片中大量的直接面对各种社会议题，感情外貌性别婚姻亲友，这些近在咫尺的都被讨论到，导演用人物去经历一切。好友的索菲亚罗兰到底是不是真的重要吗？或许重要的是你愿意相信与否。音乐使用可以再节制一些。呈现了一群女性影像，个个都丰满自然真实，过得有自己的样子。
像一锅鲫鱼汤氤氲出的水汽，轻盈、温暖、烟火气十足，那锅名为“爱情”的汤真正尝起来也许美好，也许寡淡，也许刚端起就被现实砸了个杯盘狼藉，但那又有什么关系，我只是一个路过窗口的行人，从这香气里汲取一点对生活还可以好好过的美好向往。
一直在想英文片名B for Busy怎么翻译，后来恍然大悟，这是中英杂糅的一个表述，也就是电影中老白的两个外号——白（B）辛苦/不（B）辛苦，也表达了影片探讨的爱情本质的一种答案。
求中年男演员放过熟女题材，拿三个女主饭桌那段当宣传噱头，结果把观众骗进电影看中年男人的幻想？演员不错，剧本不错，镜头也不错，但是视角不对。这两年我们已经透过太多救世主（性别男）的眼睛去看中年女性的狼狈和得过且过了。导演以为女性观众看到的是第二春是新曙光吗？不，我们只能更加看清罩住女人的那层玻璃罩子。
今年院线片里比较令人感到惊喜的一部。坚固的东西都烟消云散了，但并非所有东西都消失了，那些琐碎的、已逝的甚至混乱的难道不是真实存在的吗？确实是中产趣味，但亦假亦真的那一笔有举重若轻的神韵
伪男性视角的女性题材 把男人放在女人的位置上 他们就变成了女人 但即便赋予女人权力与造反的底气 底色依然是戏谑甚至有些心酸的 也许比起老乌饭桌上红红的眼眶 格洛丽亚挑逗完老白关上门后黯然神伤的表情转换 才是“可怖的真实眼泪”
我感觉吧，这个中式父母，只能算一般般讨人厌的程度，而已。
三星半，确实是今年院线华语片最有腔调的一部，出自一个初执导筒的文青编辑，也难怪都说这片子符合豆瓣的口味。
20220119 对我来说有三个亮点: 1. 全沪语对话 2. 多上海演员，包括演徐峥妈妈和马伊琍妈妈的，也都是我熟悉的上海演员。除了那个演儿子的小朋友一口洋泾浜上海话，但也正好说明现在上海话越来越式微的情况 3. 借三位女演员的嘴怼男人眼中的刻板女性形象，可太爽了！
可能我期待太高了，也可能徐峥老师的卖相实在太差了，也可能关键场面的火候总是差了那么一点点，四星打不下手去啊
